This is orthomolecular therapy

The premise of orthomolecular therapy is that the body can function optimally when it has the right nutrients in the right quantities. By supporting and repairing the body with substances that naturally occur in the body, such as vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and amino acids, you work on the basis of your health.

The common medical view

Within conventional medicine, health is often approached from the diagnosis and treatment of specific diseases. Nutrition certainly plays a role in this, but usually in general guidelines, such as the recommended daily amounts. Orthomolecular therapy goes a step further by looking at individual needs and possible deficits or disturbances that are not always visible in standard examinations.

A broader, systems-oriented approach

Orthomolecular therapy not only looks at complaints in themselves, but at the body as a whole. Complaints are seen as signals of A underlying imbalance. This includes looking at:

  • Energy production (mitochondria): How well do your cells produce energy? Fatigue, for example, can be related to deficiencies in certain nutrients.

  • Ignition balance: Low-grade inflammation plays a role in many chronic complaints.

  • Oxidative stress: When the balance between 'harmful substances' (free radicals) and 'protective substances' (antioxidants) is disturbed, it can damage your cells.

  • Gut health: The microbiome influences, among other things, your immune system, mood and digestion.

  • Hormonal regulation: Diet and lifestyle influence hormones such as cortisol, insulin and thyroid hormones.

  • Metabolic flexibility: Your body's ability to efficiently switch between different energy sources.

In short

Orthomolecular therapy focuses on optimizing health by supporting the body with the right nutrients and lifestyle choices, with attention to the underlying processes rather than just treating symptoms.

This can you can expect in my practice Very Better

In my practice, orthomolecular therapy forms the basis for understanding the body at a biochemical and metabolic level. We look at how your body functions in terms of energy production, nutritional status, intestinal health and hormonal balance. Complaints are seen as signals of an underlying disturbance, not as something isolated.

At the same time, I use insights from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to recognize patterns and coherence. While the orthomolecular approach focuses on replenishing and optimizing nutrients, TCM helps to understand where the imbalance comes from and how systems influence each other.

In addition, a ketogenic approach can be used where appropriate. This is a way of eating in which the body switches to burning fat as its main source of energy. From a metabolic perspective, this can help to improve energy management, stabilize blood sugars and give the body more rest and resilience.

Together we map out how your energy, digestion, sleep, stress and overall resilience are going. Based on this, I create a personal plan with nutrition, supplementation and lifestyle adjustments, possibly supplemented with principles from TCM and ketogenic nutrition.

This creates an integrated approach: we combine insight into the whole (patterns and balance) with targeted support at cell level. Think of supporting mitochondria, reducing low-grade inflammation and improving intestinal and hormonal functions.

Not a standard protocol, but a personal and systemic approach aimed at restoring balance and supporting your natural recovery capacity.
